Jim Nelson
I am a disciple of Jesus Christ. I aspire to live my life in keeping with the principles that He taught. I know that He loves me and that I can find lasting happiness by living the standards that He has given us. When I fail, I know that though His love and grace, I can be restored and made clean by the power of His infinite Atonement.
I love the United States, the Greatest Country in history of the world. The greatness of the United States lies in the possibility it provides to every citizen to become what he or she wants to become, and to allow each individual to craft their lives in a way that meets the desire for balance that each person wants–within the bounds of economic self-reliance. It has been made that way by great and ordinary men and women who have gone before us to build and sustain the American way of life, which, though imitated in other countries in various versions, remains unique in all the world.
I also acknowledge my wife, Karen, as the most important influence for good in my life. She has filled my life with love and light. I have seen her change lives with a hug or a kind word, or just by living her life. Of all the thousands of wonderful people I have met and known in my life, I have never met anyone like her.
In the pattern of Enos, son of Jacob, this is a blog that I am primarily making for my children and grandchildren. Secondarily, it is for my extended family. And, finally for friends and people everywhere who have a desire to read my inadequate words. It is meant to document certain things that are important to me and have made my life joyful. It is my earnest hope that my words will somehow make their lives better.
